Will AI replace evolutionary biologists?

AI will revolutionize genomic sequencing for evolutionary biologists but will not replace the scientists who design the experiments. The role involves theoretical synthesis and physical lab work that AI cannot manage independently.

Evolutionary Biologist scores 15/100 — This career is well shielded from AI replacement. Roughly 38% of the tasks in this role could be automated with current and near-future AI.

The US median salary for a evolutionary biologist is about $87,000 per year, with projected employment growth of +4% over the next decade (about average).

Sequencing and aligning large genomic datasets for comparison. Simulating millions of years of population genetics under specific variables. Automating the screening of protein structures for evolutionary similarities. Drafting literature reviews by summarizing thousands of existing biology papers.

Evolutionary Biologist has a low AI risk score (15/100) and a +4% 10-year outlook. Compare it with your current job or use the salary calculator to see how a switch would affect your pay.

AI can speed up routine evolutionary biologist tasks like Sequencing and aligning large genomic datasets for comparison. and Simulating millions of years of population genetics under specific variables.. The most resilient workers learn to direct these tools while focusing on the human judgment, creativity and physical work that AI can't easily replicate.
